Pleasure is an integral part of the human
experience that begins as early as in the womb, lasting throughout our life.
It is important to foster an understanding
of pleasure in all children, before it’s even about sex. Ensuring young people establish trust in their bodies as a safe place to explore and experience pleasure within, prepares them for safer, more satisfying experiences along their journey.
A young person’s sexual orientation, or the gender(s) they are romantically or sexually
attracted to, is personal and not for a parent
to dictate. A caregiver’s most effective role
is in being open and available to talk with
their child about sexual or romantic feelings
they could experience, to best support their developing identities as they move through adolescence.
